The Young Ealing Foundation is calling on local residents to help breathe new life into Greenford Library by stepping forward as volunteers in an ambitious community-led revival of the space.
The charity is currently in ongoing discussions with Ealing Council about the future management of the Oldfield Lane South library, which it hopes to reopen as a community-managed hub. Volunteers will be vital to its day-to-day running, with roles ranging from welcoming visitors and shelving books to supporting IT use and organising community events.
Speaking to EALING.NEWS, a Young Ealing Foundation spokesperson said: “This is a unique chance to be part of something special right from the start. We’re looking for local people who are passionate about community, books and making a difference to help shape Greenford Library into a welcoming space for everyone.”
They added: “Whether you’ve got a few hours a week or a brilliant activity you’d love to run, we’d love to hear from you.”
Volunteers must be over 18 and able to commit to at least two shifts per month, each lasting 2–3 hours. Full training is expected to begin as early as June or July, depending on the project’s progress. An enhanced DBS check will be required.
With opportunities to support everything from digital literacy to creative programming, organisers say early expressions of interest will help shape the library’s future.
Interested locals can register via this online form and help play a part in bringing Greenford Library back to life.
