Around 40 firefighters tackled a grass fire which damaged an acre of trees and vegetation in Greenford on Sunday (9 August 2026).
Six fire engines were sent to the blaze near Cowgate Road after London Fire Brigade received the first of 11 calls at 6.26pm.
Around an acre of trees, shrubbery and grass was damaged, although there were no reports of any injuries.
Firefighters used specialist equipment including backpack blowers and wildfire beaters to bring the flames under control.
One of the Brigade’s Terrain Support Vehicles was also deployed. The off-road vehicle can carry equipment and water closer to fires on open ground, allowing crews to reach areas that may be difficult for conventional fire engines.
Crews from Wembley, Southall, Northolt and surrounding fire stations attended the incident.
The fire was extinguished by 7.48pm, around one hour and 20 minutes after the first call was received.
