Hanwell’s Westside Radio toy appeal brings Xmas cheer

Hanwell-based community broadcaster Westside Radio has delivered hundreds of donated toys to children and young people across West London through its annual Christmas Toy Appeal.

Gifts were distributed to Hillingdon Hospital, West Middlesex Hospital and Northwick Park Hospital, as well as Shooting Star Hospice. Community organisations and charities also received deliveries, among them Southall Park Play Centre, Hanwell Children’s Centre, Carers Trust Hillingdon & Ealing and the William Hobbayne Charity, alongside other youth centres supporting families during the festive period.

The station said the appeal drew an overwhelming response from listeners, helping to ensure presents reached children who might otherwise go without at Christmas.

The drive was supported by a range of local partners, including Hasbro, Ealing Street Dance Academy, Cake Co, A2Dominion, Fresh N Funky Catering and the Ealing Half Marathon. Chiswick School made what organisers described as a particularly generous donation.

Olivia Jackson, who presents the Get Up Show, said: “Helping to bring real joy and comfort during what can be a very difficult time of year was incredibly special.”
