Ealing’s University of West London (UWL) is launching free short courses for Feltham residents under a new partnership with Hounslow Council, as the borough seeks to widen access to training and prepare locals for new jobs linked to the area’s regeneration.
From February 2026, UWL will run two 14-week “micro-credential” programmes at Feltham Library: an Introduction to Business course and an Introduction to Podcasting. Teaching will take place in weekly three-hour evening sessions and is aimed at adult residents who want to upskill, retrain or test out university-level study before committing to a longer qualification.
UWL said learners who complete the courses successfully will receive a 20-credit award that can be put towards future study.
The initiative forms part of a longer-term programme between UWL and the London Borough of Hounslow, with the partners saying it will support employability and contribute to local economic growth.
Professor Peter John, UWL’s vice-chancellor and president, said: “Our ongoing initiative in Feltham is designed to strengthen education and skills development across the community. By offering accessible, high-quality learning in partnership with the London Borough of Hounslow, we are helping residents take meaningful steps towards further study, new career routes and long-term economic opportunity.”
Hounslow Council’s leader, Shantanu Rajawat, said the courses would sit alongside planned regeneration in Feltham and “provide pathways towards possibility” as the area undergoes major change.
