Ealing volunteers and community groups recognised at A2Dominion awards

Three Ealing community initiatives have been recognised at this year’s A2Dominion Community Awards for the difference they make to local residents.

The awards were presented at Mahaba Cafe in West Ealing on 22 June 2026, celebrating volunteers and community groups from across the housing association’s neighbourhoods.

Among those recognised were volunteers from Southall’s Havelock Food Distribution Hub, who were honoured for helping families facing financial hardship through the hub’s food distribution service. Volunteer Lyn Hutchinson said: “Seeing the smile on people’s faces, knowing they can feed their children makes it worthwhile. It’s hard work but worth it.”

Also honoured was West Ealing resident Sahar Badra, who received the Community Health and Wellbeing Project of the Year award for founding Fit Steps for Ealing Sisters. The running group was set up to help women improve their health, wellbeing and confidence and has since grown to welcome all people of all fitness levels.

The host venue, Mahaba Cafe, was also recognised, winning Community Partner of the Year. The cafe helps people with special educational needs train as baristas while gaining valuable work experience in a supportive environment.

Nic Kantas, head of intensive customer support at A2Dominion, said: “These awards shine a spotlight on the remarkable people and organisations who work tirelessly to support others and strengthen their communities.”
