Chiswick Book Festival 2026 gets underway on Wednesday (9 September 2026) with a strong Ealing connection, including local writers, organisations and a new sponsorship deal with St Benedict’s School.
The six-day festival runs until Monday (14 September 2026), with Ealing author Alex Gerlis among those appearing alongside film-maker Tony Palmer and historian Sue Elliott. Agatha Christie, who spent part of her early life in Ealing, will also be celebrated 50 years after her death.
The programme comes as St Benedict’s School in Ealing has become a sponsor of the festival, following its sponsorship of the Ealing Book Festival. It will sponsor two Chiswick sessions on Saturday (12 September 2026).
Chiswick Book Festival director Torin Douglas said: “We’re delighted that St Benedict’s is further strengthening our Ealing links by becoming one of our Diamond Partners.
“A third of Chiswick’s homes lie in the Borough of Ealing and for several years we held our own events with Gunnersbury, Pitzhanger Manor and the University of West London until Ealing set up its own book festival again.”
The Chiswick Book Festival was launched in 2009, growing out of Ealing Literary Festival events held in Chiswick in 2007 and 2008, and later helped facilitate and promote the launch of the Ealing Book Festival in 2024.
St Benedict’s PR & Communications Manager Dina Potier said: “Our partnership with the highly successful Ealing Book Festival has been enormously valuable in strengthening community connections and celebrating the importance of reading and the written word – and we are delighted to extend this to the Chiswick Book Festival.”
Ealing’s University of West London has sponsored the Chiswick festival since 2017 and this year hosted Ealing Book Festival events at its Ealing campus.
The festival also continues to support adult literacy charity Read Easy Ealing.
