Deliveroo and The Felix Project open Acton community kitchen

Deliveroo has joined forces with London food redistribution charity The Felix Project to launch a new community kitchen in Acton, on the site of the charity’s main West London depot, aimed at reducing food waste and tackling holiday hunger.

The initiative, ‘Felix Bakes with Deliveroo’, will see the food delivery company provide a bespoke kitchen space, rent-free and fully fitted, along with £25,000 towards project costs and a year’s supply of cooking oil. Co-op, a long-standing Deliveroo grocery partner, is also contributing by donating 6,000 kilos of bakery supplies.

The launch comes as new research from the charity revealed nearly two thirds of London teachers feared children in their classes were facing hunger over the summer holidays, potentially impacting 98,000 pupils.

The kitchen is expected to turn more than 200kg of surplus fruit and vegetables into breads and “healthier bakes” such as courgette cake, banana bread and beetroot brownies – equivalent to over 2,000 meals a week. These will be distributed via The Felix Project’s network of food banks, shelters, schools and community centres across London.

Eleanor Garnier, senior policy advisor at Deliveroo, said: “As a hyperlocal business deeply embedded in the communities where its customers, riders, and partners live and work, Deliveroo is committed to giving back to and supporting these neighbourhoods – something that ‘Felix Bakes with Deliveroo’ will allow us to achieve. Launching this community kitchen is a key priority for us in 2025.”

Nick Kerle, head of production at The Felix Project, added: “This is a really exciting and innovative partnership. Having the Felix Bakes kitchen will mean we can take more produce and turn it into food we know people will want and enjoy.”
