Ealing’s Dance Divas prepare for Children in Need Tapathon

A community dance group from Ealing is preparing to join dancers across the country in a national Tapathon to raise money for BBC Children in Need.

The event, taking place on Sunday (23 November 2025) at Blondin Park Community Pavilion, will see the Dance Divas – an adult tap group run by Egan Performing Arts (EPA) – perform a coordinated national routine in an attempt to break a world record. MP for Ealing Southall Deirdre Costigan will be adjudicating the proceedings.

EPA, founded in 2021, offers dance and fitness classes for adults and children across the borough. The Dance Divas, who mostly rehearse at the Blondin Park Community Pavilion, include members in their 30s, 40s and 50s. The Tapathon will run alongside a community coffee-and-cake afternoon and performances from several of the school’s groups, including the Little Stars, a class for three- to five-year-olds.

Laura Egan, director of Egan Performing Arts, said her group aims to combine performance with community involvement and charitable fundraising.

Last March, the school raised more than £300 for Positive About Down Syndrome, a charity she described as an important source of support for her family.

She said: “Our charity events are a wonderful way to celebrate the work that goes on in class and raise money for worthy causes.”

Ms Egan added that the Dance Divas group, which began earlier this year, had grown quickly. She said: “These ladies have thrown themselves into everything with so much enthusiasm.”

The group has already raised more than £800 and hopes to reach its £1,000 target with support from families and local residents.
