Crowdfunder launched for Citizen Zoo to buy a van

One of the organisations involved in the reintroduction of beavers to Ealing has launched a crowdfunding campaign to buy a van.

The ‘Rolling to Rewild’ campaign from Citizen Zoo aims to raise £18,000 to help it own a vehicle which previously was loaned by Citroen UK. The automotive company is no longer able to continue with the loan and has given Citizen Zoo first refusal to purchase it.

The campaign, which is hosted on the Aviva Community Fund platform, is being matched 2:1 by Aviva for donations up to £250.

A Citizen Zoo spokesperson said: “The van is absolutely vital to the work Citizen Zoo undertakes, much of which is to the benefit of Ealing and local residents. One of our biggest projects – and arguable most exciting rewilding projects in the UK – has been to not only reintroduce, but now have reproducing beavers at Paradise Fields in Ealing.”

The spokesperson added: “By acquiring this vehicle, Citizen Zoo will be able to maintain efficiency and expand the reach of their work, thus furthering positive environmental change in London and the UK.

“In addition to working for the benefit of nature, Citizen Zoo works closely with communities, local organisations, businesses, and schools throughout London. Providing educational, accessible, safe and welcoming environments for all ages and abilities to meet people, learn and reconnect with nature.”
