Construction has begun on a 900-home development in Acton that developers say will deliver 50% affordable housing on a brownfield site beside Acton Town station.
Housing secretary Steve Reed and London’s deputy mayor for housing, Tom Copley, joined partners on Wednesday (4 March 2026) to mark the start of work on the Bollo Lane scheme.
The project will provide 450 affordable homes alongside shops, offices and new green spaces. It will be delivered in two phases by the West London Partnership, a joint venture between Transport for London’s property company Places for London and property developer Barratt London.
Phase one, delivered with Grainger, will provide homes for private and intermediate rent. Phase two, developed with Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing, will include social rent and shared ownership homes as well as private housing. The development is expected to be completed by December 2029.
The affordable homes will include London Living Rent properties in the first phase, while the second phase will consist of 67% social rent and 33% shared ownership homes.
Mr Reed said: “Bollo Lane is exactly the kind of development we need and shows what’s possible when we work together to build the homes Londoners desperately need – more high-quality, affordable homes in well-connected places.”
The scheme will also form part of a wider plan by the West London Partnership to build more than 4,000 homes across eight boroughs.
Developers say later phases will be built to high energy-efficiency standards aimed at cutting heating costs and reducing carbon emissions for residents.
