A new women-only housing development has officially opened in Acton, in a scheme aimed at tackling housing insecurity among women in the borough.
Brooke House, which celebrated its launch on Tuesday (24 March 2026), has been delivered by Women’s Pioneer Housing in partnership with L&Q replacing a former low-rise estate on Gunnersbury Lane with a 15-storey building providing 102 flats for social rent.
The scheme is believed to be among the first purpose-built, women-only social housing developments of its kind in the UK. Supporters say it responds to longstanding demand for safe, affordable housing tailored to women’s needs, particularly in London where waiting lists remain high.
Tracey Downie, chief executive of Women’s Pioneer Housing, said the organisation had a long history of supporting women’s access to housing. She said: “This is a landmark moment for us and for the women we serve. Brooke House represents our continued commitment to providing safe, secure and affordable homes for women.”
The development includes a mix of one- and two-bedroom flats, alongside communal and landscaped spaces designed to support residents’ wellbeing and sense of community.
