Local NHS trust among most improved

London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH), which runs Ealing Hospital, Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow and Central Middlesex Hospital in Park Royal has been named the most improved trust in London and the seventh most improved nationally under the NHS’s new oversight framework.

The latest figures place the trust 16th out of more than 130 acute trusts across England, marking its highest position to date. It has also moved into category 1 of the framework for the first time since the system was introduced this financial year.

The national framework assesses trusts against a range of indicators, including A&E waiting times, diagnostic and treatment backlogs, cancer performance and financial stability.

The ranking reflects improvements across several areas, including lower-than-expected hospital mortality rates, reductions in hospital-acquired infections such as C. difficile, and fewer patients waiting more than 12 hours in A&E for admission. The trust has also reported faster cancer diagnoses and higher rates of treatment within 62 days, alongside meeting its financial plan.

Pippa Nightingale, the trust’s chief executive, said: “These results are a fantastic recognition of our teams’ incredible efforts and commitment so far this year. We are very proud that our services have made such impressive improvements in the face of a very pressurised year.

“There’s always more for us to do, and we’re looking forward to building on these improvements, but these results are a clear sign that we’re doing the right thing to offer better, more sustainable care for our communities.”
