Ealing drinkers will be able to sample unusual brews from around the world next month (October 2025), as three Wetherspoon pubs in the borough host a 12-day real ale festival.
The Red Lion & Pineapple in Acton, the Sir Michael Balcon in Ealing Broadway and the Greenwood Hotel in Northolt will take part in the event, which runs from 1 to 12 October 2025. Up to 30 ales will be on tap, five of them from international brewers.
It is the first time the festival has featured beers from India and France, with Effingut brewery of Pune and Ambree brewery from Nice making the list. They join Young Henrys of Sydney and two American names: Creature Comforts from Georgia and San Diego’s Alesmith.
Most of the beers have been brewed specially for the occasion, including four vegan options. Some feature more unusual ingredients – cucumber, lime, vanilla, blackberries and spices – alongside traditional malt and hops. Prices range from £1.99 to £2.65 a pint, with three one-third pint “taster” measures available for the price of a pint.
Domestic brewers represented include Orkney, Titanic, Elgood’s, Hogs Back, Salopian and Evan Evans.
Alessandro Piano, manager of the Red Lion & Pineapple, said: “The festival is a great celebration of real ale. It will allow us to showcase a selection of superb beers … from brewers as far afield as Australia and India, as well as those closer to home.”
