World Clean Up Day comes to Ealing

Ealing will be one of four London boroughs taking part in a major clean-up this weekend as dozens of volunteers prepare to tackle London’s worsening litter crisis.

The event coincides with World Clean Up Day and is being coordinated by Who Is Hussain?, a social justice charity that operates in more than 90 cities worldwide. In London, around 100 volunteers will be spread across Harrow, Brent, Ealing and Westminster on Saturday (20 September 2025), working between 10am and 2pm.

In Ealing, the volunteers will be working to clean up Witham Road, Bedford Road, Kirchen Road and, if time permits, Dean Gardens.

Kumail Jaffer, London team lead of Who Is Hussain?, said: “Ordinary people are rolling up their sleeves to clear the mess and protect wildlife but this isn’t a long term solution.”

Mr Jaffer added: “We shouldn’t have to rely on World Clean Up Day to keep our streets safe and clean. Combating litter must become part of our daily civic duty so London can breathe again. This is about environmental justice as much as it is about rubbish. Cleaner streets mean healthier communities, safer neighbourhoods, and protection of wildlife.”
