Italian wines have come out on top for the second time in an Ealing Wine Club public tasting, taking all three top places in the club’s latest event.
The “5 Shades of Pink” tasting at Hanwell Coffee & Wine Bar on Church Road brought together three Italian and two French wines, with guests voting for their favourites after sampling each with a food pairing.
La Gioiosa Prosecco Rosé DOC Millesimato from Veneto took first place, followed by Artii Puglia Rosé, a Primitivo rosé from Puglia. La Carezza Pinot Nero DOC, also from Veneto, came third.
The two French wines in the tasting were Pink Flamingo Organic Rosé from the Camargue and Cote Mas Vin Orange from Montpellier.
It follows the club’s first major tasting in June, when guests compared wines from northern and southern Italy, with wines from Puglia and Sardinia emerging as the favourites.
Ealing Wine Club vice president Valeriano Drago said: “The Ealing Wine Club was launched only a few months ago, and we have been very encouraged by the response so far.
“What is particularly positive is seeing both Italian and British guests coming together through wine, food and shared cultural experiences. This event was designed as a friendly comparison between Italian and French wines, and the public vote made for an interesting result.”
