SEGA Lab launches at UWL

Ealing’s University of West London has opened a new computing facility developed in partnership with video game company SEGA Europe, aimed at strengthening links between industry and students.

The SEGA Lab, based in the university’s School of Computing and Engineering, was officially launched last month (12 February 2026) during an event attended by industry figures and academic staff.

The facility has been equipped with GPU-accelerated workstations designed to support work in artificial intelligence, data science, simulation and cyber security. University leaders say the technology will allow students to work with systems similar to those used across the technology sector.

Kashif Iqbal, director of technology services and cyber security and a visiting industry professor at the university, said the collaboration aims to give students practical experience with real-world technology.

Mr Iqbal said: “The SEGA Cyber Lab reflects our commitment to investing in future talent and creating meaningful bridges between industry and academia.”

Stuart Wright, chief technology officer at SEGA Europe, said the company valued collaborating with local partners such as the university.

The lab will support teaching, student projects and research across artificial intelligence, cyber security and data-driven engineering.
