A teacher at special education needs secondary school St Ann’s in Hanwell is set to take part in two Ironman-distance races later this year to help raise funds for the school’s charity The St. Ann’s Foundation.
Nacho Carbonell Sanchis, who has been teaching at the school since 2016, is currently training for two hours a day six days a week which includes running, swimming, cycling, strength and stretching exercises.
Mr Carbonell Sanchis will be taking part in July’s Tribourne Festival of Endurance in Eastbourne and October’s ICAN Gandia-Valencia in Spain.
According to the sports lover, he is racing in memory of his sisters and friends who have passed away and to support those unable to take part in sports due to health issues.
On his JustGiving page, Mr Carbonell Sanchis said: “Motivated by my love for sports and the memory of lost loved ones, my aim is to support those facing health challenges. I find encouragement from my family, friends, and students, believing they would be proud of my pursuits.”
He added: “I’m is also raising funds for The St. Ann’s Foundation, which supports St Ann’s School, a school for young persons with special educational needs, by enhancing facilities and extracurricular opportunities. My journey showcases the resilience and dedication inherent in endurance racing while positively impacting my community.
