Ealing’s University of West London has introduced a new round-the-clock academic support service as part of efforts to improve student retention and attainment.
The university has entered a three-year partnership with the online learning provider Studiosity, giving students access to 24/7 feedback on academic writing and study skills. The service offers formative comments on drafts, including advice on structure, use of sources and critical analysis.
UWL said the initiative is designed to remove barriers to support, particularly for students who may be unable or reluctant to attend scheduled appointments. The university has placed a renewed focus on continuation rates and student outcomes in recent years, amid wider sector pressures on recruitment and retention.
Alison Griffin, UWL’s head of study support, said timely feedback could help students build confidence and remain on track with their studies. Isabelle Bambury, managing director for UK and Europe at Studiosity, said online access at any time of day would widen participation among those less likely to use traditional services.
The university said all enrolled students will be eligible to use the platform throughout the academic year.
