Dormers Wells recognised by education secretary

Dormers Wells Learning Trust in Southall, which runs Dormers Wells Primary School and Dormers Wells High School, has been recognised by the education secretary for strong outcomes for disadvantaged pupils, placing it among the highest-performing schools nationally.

The recognition came in a letter from Bridget Phillipson, the secretary of state for education, sent to headteachers at schools judged to have delivered strong attainment outcomes for disadvantaged pupils at the end of the 2024–25 academic year.

In her letter, Ms Phillipson wrote that the trust’s performance placed it “among the very best nationally”, describing the results as “a significant achievement”. She said the outcomes reflected “the dedication of your staff and the hard work of your pupils” and showed “what can be achieved when ambition and commitment come together”.

Ms Phillipson encouraged Dormers Wells to share the approaches that contributed to its success and to act as a system leader by supporting collaboration across the sector. She pointed to opportunities for schools to engage with regional improvement networks, contribute to professional communities and partnerships with nearby schools, and continue focusing on disadvantaged pupils to sustain excellence.

Roisin Walsh, chief executive of Dormers Wells Learning Trust, welcomed the letter. She told EALING.NEWS: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive this recognition. This notable achievement validates the rigorous academic standards and the nurturing culture we’ve built at Dormers Wells Learning Trust across both our secondary and primary schools.

“For our learners to consistently perform significantly above the national average is a testament to their dedication and the high calibre teaching environments we provide. For our schools, this means we are on the right path in preparing our students for the future, and we look forward to building on this success for the entire Dormers community.”
