A 61-year-old man from Southall has been jailed today (23 July 2026) for 12 years after police seized more than 2,000 litres of GBL.
Ahoor Ramabark Fathi, of Willowbrook Road, was linked to three addresses – two in Ealing and one in Southall – used to store drugs and money.
Fathi was arrested on 18 March 2026 during an investigation into drug supply between Manchester and London. A search of a storage container he rented uncovered 188 boxes containing 2,256 one-litre bottles of GBL.
The Metropolitan Police said it was one of the largest seizures of the drug in London.
Police also found 456g of crystal meth, £100,000 in cash, a firearm and ammunition at a property in Ealing.
GBL is a liquid drug associated with chemsex and has also been linked to spiking and drug-facilitated sexual assault. Police said GBL was being transported from Manchester to London, while crystal meth was being supplied in the opposite direction.
Fathi pleaded guilty at Isleworth Crown Court on 17 April 2026 to possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs, possession of a firearm and ammunition and possession of criminal property.
Detective Inspector Mark Gavin, who led the investigation, said: “This seizure represents one of the largest quantities of GBL recovered in London and has prevented a substantial amount of the drug from reaching our streets.”
