Metropolitan Police have secured a five-year criminal behaviour order (CBO) against a man responsible for a series of shoplifting and handling stolen goods offences across Ealing.
Gurpreet Singh was arrested on 23 October 2025 after staff at a retail store in Ealing detained two men who had placed several high-value items into bags before leaving without paying. Officers attended and arrested both individuals.
A search carried out under Section 32 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act uncovered a number of bank cards, Oyster cards and identification documents that did not belong to the suspect, police said.
Further enquiries by officers revealed a pattern of repeated thefts from the same retailer over a two-week period, which caused significant financial losses.
Last month (23 February 2026) at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court, Singh pleaded guilty to shoplifting and handling stolen goods. He received a financial penalty and a custodial sentence.
Following the conviction, officers from the Metropolitan Police Violence and Casework Team successfully applied for a Criminal Behaviour Order lasting until 23 February 2031.
The order restricts Singh from associating with people involved in criminal activity in public places, entering businesses from which he has been banned, and possessing property clearly belonging to others without proof of ownership.
Police said the order aims to protect local businesses and reduce repeat offending.
Anyone with information about similar activity should call Metropolitan Police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
