British Transport Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to trace in connection with a serious assault on a passenger who had boarded a Piccadilly line train at South Ealing station.
The incident happened at about 2pm on Friday (9 January 2026) on an eastbound service towards central London. According to police, the victim was approached shortly after boarding by another man who offered him alcohol. When the offer was declined, the man became verbally abusive and aggressive.
Officers said the situation escalated when the train arrived at Hammersmith station. As the victim got off the train, he was followed onto the platform, where the suspect struck him on the head with a wine bottle. The bottle shattered on impact, causing deep lacerations to the victim’s head.
The injured man was taken to hospital and required emergency medical treatment. Police described the attack as violent and unprovoked.
British Transport Police said they were keen to speak to anyone who recognises him or witnessed the incident.
