Bike theft prevention drive sees more than 50 bicycles registered in Acton

More than 50 bicycles were security marked and registered during two police bike marking events held in Acton on Saturday (4 July 2026).

In a post on Met Engage, PCSO Gary Pang, of the East Acton Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said officers held the free events at Southfield Recreation Ground on Mansell Road between noon and 2pm before running a second session at Acton Park on The Vale from 4pm to 6pm.

Police said security marking helps deter bicycle theft, assists officers in identifying recovered bikes and increases the chances of stolen bicycles being returned to their owners. Officers also used the events to offer crime prevention advice and speak to local residents about bicycle security.

Further bike marking events are planned in the future. PCSO Pang said: “Don’t worry if you missed the event this time, we’ll ensure to schedule more in the near future.”
