Southall residents rise up with grassroots website

A new grassroots group in Southall has launched a community website to give residents a stronger voice and confront what they say are long-standing problems of neglect, pollution and safety in the town.

The Southall Residents Alliance, set up by locals frustrated at what they see as years of being overlooked by authorities, put the site live on Wednesday (20 August 2025).

Campaigners hope it will become a resource for locals to share information, report problems and coordinate campaigns on issues ranging from fly-tipping and controlled parking zones to crime and environmental health.

A spokesperson for the group said: “The Southall Residents Alliance is about unity, accountability and action. For too long, residents have felt ignored and left behind. Our website will give people the tools and information they need to get involved, share their experiences, and work together to improve our town.”

The site will carry updates on local campaigns, practical guides for residents on how to take action, and a portal for raising concerns. Organisers say they want it to function as a rallying point for neighbours, community groups and businesses alike.

Southall has often been at the centre of disputes over air quality, waste management and redevelopment. Campaigners say the new website is a step towards holding decision-makers to account while strengthening solidarity among residents.

The spokesperson added: “This is about making sure our voices are heard. It’s about standing up for Southall.”
