Staff at a Perivale freight depot are celebrating after winning an award in recognition of their role in transforming the business over the past two years.
The 70-strong workforce at Palletline London was named Team of the Year at pallet distribution network Palletline’s annual awards, beating almost 80 depots from across the UK.
The award recognised the team’s efforts to improve the business through new overnight delivery contracts and cost-saving measures.
General manager Ucal McLeod said winning the award had come as “a lovely surprise” for staff.
He said: “It has been a balanced effort for more than a year but we’re delighted it has brought us back into the black.”
Mr McLeod said the turnaround had been driven by new overnight delivery contracts together with savings across the fleet, maintenance and agency costs.
At the awards ceremony, judges praised the team’s determination and said its success showed what could be achieved through resilience, teamwork and continuous improvement.
