Padel and pickleball coming to Park Royal

A 12-court facility set to become Europe’s largest indoor padel and pickleball venue is due to open its doors later this year in Park Royal.

The venue, to be launched under the brand Racketeer – a sister concept to Santa Monica’s PicklePop – will span nearly 100,000 sq ft and feature purpose-built courts along with premium food and beverage facilities. It will be located at 55–61 North Acton Road, London NW10 on the site of Dooa House.

Padel, a fast-paced racket sport blending tennis and squash, is typically played in doubles on enclosed courts, while pickleball — a US-born game played with paddles and a plastic ball — combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping pong and has become increasingly popular with players of all ages.

PicklePop was founded by former USA soccer player Stephanie McCaffrey and Erin Robertson, a winner of the US TV show Project Runway.

Dooa Capital, which has leased its site to Racketeer says it is part of a strategy to rethink how leisure real estate is used in urban areas.

Jass Dooa, chairman of Dooa Capital, said: “We are delighted to have completed this transformative deal. We warmly welcome our tenants Racketeer and Stephanie McCaffrey to Park Royal and wish them every success as they grow their UK presence.”
