Madhu’s Southall has become the first restaurant in Southall to be recognised by the Michelin Guide, after being included in the 2025 Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland and on the guide’s website.
The guide describes the 45-year-old restaurant, which is known for Punjabi, Kenyan-Indian and East African cooking, as standing out “like a beacon” amid “a plethora of eateries and supermarkets” in an outer London suburb, and highlights its “terrific Indian cooking”.
Madhu’s was founded in 1980 by the late Madhu Anand and Krishna Kumari Anand with their sons Sanjay and Sanjeev. The company is now in its fourth generation, with their grandson Arjun also involved.
Sanjay Anand, chair of Madhu’s and son of the founders, said appearing in the Michelin Guide was a landmark moment for both the business and Southall.
Mr Anand said: “For more than four decades, Southall has been our home and our heart. Being recognised by the Michelin Guide is a moment of profound pride not just for our family but for the entire community.”
Arjun Anand said the recognition reflected the efforts of staff and customers over the restaurant’s 45-year history.
Mr Anand added: “This honour belongs to every chef, every team member, and every guest who has walked through our doors over the past forty-five years. Madhu’s Southall is our foundation. To see it recognised at this level is truly special.”
