Raise the roof appeal for Ealing’s Questors theatre

Theatre lovers are being urged to get behind a crowdfunding campaign to raise up to £100,000 for a new roof for Ealing’s Questors Theatre.

The £50,000 appeal is being backed by an anonymous donor who has pledged to match donations pound for pound, potentially doubling the total raised to £100,000.

Founded in 1929, The Questors, whose president is actress Dame Judi Dench, is one of the UK’s largest amateur theatres and stages dozens of productions each year alongside community events, classes and visiting performances.

The theatre says sections of the roof are approaching 70 years old and have reached the end of their lifespan, leading to leaks during and after heavy rainfall.

The fundraising campaign aims to pay for urgent repairs to parts of the building housing the Studio theatre, rehearsal rooms and workshop.

According to the appeal, water ingress has already damaged equipment, flooring and furniture, while some activities have had to be relocated or cancelled. Audience seating has also been affected during performances.

Donations can be made through the Raise the Roof 2026 campaign page.
