Henry Snee’s last minute strike gave Hanwell Town a vital win over Evesham United on Saturday (7 November 2026).
Sopuru Obieri’s 38th minute penalty had given Evesham the lead before George Knight opened his Geordies account three minutes later to level the scores.
But Snee, a gravedigger by trade, had the final word, curling home to give the Geordies a vital home win.
The opening exchanges were cagey with neither keeper having a save to make in the first 30 minutes. The closest either team came was when Thomas Conteh fired wide for the visitors from a narrow angle.
Evesham were gifted the chance to open the scoring as Gabe Cuthbert brought down Obieri in the box; the United striker picked himself up to slot home the penalty.
The goal woke Hanwell up and they were level moments later as Knight headed home Ollie Turner’s corner.
Hanwell turned the screw and Dwayne Duncan headed wide from another Turner corner on the stroke of half time.
The Geordies continued from where they left off in the second half with Snee and Cuthbert forcing saves out of Brendan Beard.
It looked as if both sides would settle for a point but, with the clock striking 90, Snee picked up the ball and curled home to give the Geordies all three points.
Lee Riddell, Hanwell assistant manager, said: “The performance was not as good as it’s been in other games but it’s all about the result today. In the second half, we controlled the game. It was a fantastic finish from Henry, who has had a great start to the season and I’m really pleased for him and the boys.
