St Mark’s Hospital in Park Royal helps bring Crohn’s disease film to life

A Hollywood illustrator who has lived with Crohn’s disease has made a film about the condition with help from St Mark’s Hospital in Park Royal.

Ronen Eytan brought together a team of filmmakers to St Mark’s who volunteered their time to create Kat’s Anatomy of Fear, which follows a fictional patient from diagnosis and treatment to learning to live with the disease.

The film combines live action and animation to show how Crohn’s, a condition that causes inflammation of the digestive system, affects the body.

Eytan hopes the film will help newly diagnosed patients around the world understand the condition and feel less alone.

He said: “I have generally received excellent care and support for Crohn’s but there wasn’t much support after my initial diagnosis which is when people need reassurance and support.

“It’s a scary time and the film is there to provide reassurance and show people they aren’t alone.”
