Ealing Council and West London College launch apprenticeship drive

Ealing Council and West London College are calling on businesses across the borough to create 25 new apprenticeship opportunities in 25 days, with the council offering to cover up to 100% of training costs.

The campaign begins next week (4 November 2026) with a business networking event at Perceval House from 9am to 11am.

It aims to encourage businesses of all sizes across Ealing’s seven towns to take on apprentices with recruitment and training help being offered through through the Ealing Borough Apprenticeship Scheme (EBAS) and West London College.

Employers will be asked to commit to providing an apprenticeship by the end of November 2026. Once the commitment to hire an appentice is made, the council says it will work with the employer to agree a recruitment timeline and monitor whether the apprenticeship leads to someone starting work.

Ealing Council told EALING.NEWS that since EBAS launched in June 2026, 13 people have started apprenticeships with employers in the borough, including five Ealing residents. A further 15 borough residents have secured jobs through the scheme.

The council is also introducing an EBAS Candidate Network programme for residents aged 16 to 30, offering advice and support to help them prepare for employment and interviews.

Councillor Kamaljit Nagpal, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for decent living incomes, said: “Apprenticeships help people take their first step onto the career ladder while giving businesses access to new talent and fresh ideas.”

Ryan McCann, director of apprenticeships and business at West London College, added: “Every apprenticeship represents an opportunity for someone to gain valuable skills, earn while they learn, and build a successful career.”
