NHS opens new physiotherapy clinic for adults with learning disabilities in Perivale

A new NHS clinic has opened in Perivale to help adults with learning disabilities who have difficulty sitting comfortably or moving around because of problems with their posture.

The weekly clinic, which opened on 8 October 2026 at the Activity Resource Centre (ARC), is run by Ealing’s Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities.

Poor posture can be particularly troublesome for people with limited mobility, sometimes causing pain, pressure sores and difficulties with everyday activities.

At the clinic, physiotherapists will look at how patients sit and move, check whether their wheelchairs or other equipment are suitable and advise families and carers on how best to help.

Nelson Arputharaj John, specialist physiotherapist with Ealing’s Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities, said: “Good postural support plays a vital role in helping people stay comfortable, mobile and engaged in everyday life.”

He added: “Through early intervention and personalised care, this clinic will help individuals achieve the best outcomes and improve their overall wellbeing.”
