Volunteers are planning to collect litter in Southall and other parts of west London as part of World Cleanup Day later this month.
Who Is Hussain London is organising the clean-up for 20 September 2026, with Southall and the Grand Union Canal towpath among the locations being considered in Ealing.
Volunteers are also set to collect rubbish in neighbouring Harrow, Brent and Hillingdon.
It will be the second year the group has taken part in World Cleanup Day. Last year, volunteers targeted litter and fly-tipping hotspots in West Ealing, including Witham Road, Bedford Road, Kirchin Road and Dean Gardens.
London Assembly member for Ealing and Hillingdon Bassam Mahfouz joined volunteers in West Ealing during last year’s clean-up.
He said at the time: “I care passionately about our environment and about our street scene. We have got to take pride in our local area.”
Across Ealing, Brent, Harrow and Westminster, volunteers collected more than 130 bags of rubbish during the 2025 campaign.
Who Is Hussain London team lead Kumail Jaffer said: “Last year’s World Cleanup Day demonstrated what can be achieved when people come together and take responsibility for the spaces we all share.
“Collecting 130 bags of rubbish was a fantastic effort by our volunteers, but it also showed the scale of the challenge.”
Deputy team lead Zahra Latif said: “Clean streets and public spaces benefit everybody, and World Cleanup Day gives us an opportunity to turn concern about the environment into practical action within our own neighbourhoods.”
