Ealing Council wins national award for Living Wage campaign

The number of London Living Wage-accredited employers based in Ealing has more than doubled in three years, with the council’s campaign to boost fair pay earning a national award.

Ealing Council said a total of 158 accredited employers now have a presence in the borough, including 45 with headquarters elsewhere. The number of accredited employers registered in Ealing has risen from 61 in 2023 to 71 in 2024, 101 in 2025 and 113 this year.

The council’s campaign was recognised at the national Living Wage Champion Awards on 7 July, where it won the Living Wage Leader (Public Sector) award.

According to the council, almost 1,000 employees in the borough received pay rises after their employers became accredited to pay the London Living Wage.

Councillor Kamaljit Nagpal, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for decent living incomes, said the award reflected the council’s efforts to make fair pay a priority across the borough.

The council said Ealing now has more Living Wage-accredited employers than any other West London local authority and was the first in West London to become a Living Wage Place.
