A family-run glass specialist that has been based in Ealing for more than a century has appointed its first managing director from outside the founding family.
Preedy Glass, established in 1913, has promoted Andrea Millington to the role after 11 years with the company, making her the first non-Preedy family member to lead the business in its 113-year history.
Ms Millington joined the company, which is located in Park Royal, as financial controller before becoming operations director. She now takes charge of the firm’s 25-strong team as fourth-generation family member Mike Preedy steps aside after 45 years with the business to become a non-executive director.
The company has supplied bespoke glass for projects ranging from museum displays and shopping centres to television productions including Game of Thrones, as well as luxury yacht manufacturer Sunseeker.
Managing director Andrea Millington said: “It’s a privilege to be trusted and recognised by the Preedy family to lead the business into its next phase. That sense of trust, care and ambition runs through everything we do, and it’s something I’m committed to strengthening.”
Mr Preedy said the appointment marked “an exciting step forward” for the company.
He said: “Andrea understands what makes Preedy Glass different and embodies our standards, service, culture and know-how. She will move us forward without losing what matters. I have complete confidence in her leadership as we continue to grow.”
The company said it plans to launch a virtual “Glass House” digital showroom over the next year and has recruited three new members of staff since the start of 2026 as it continues to expand.
