An Acton Girlguiding volunteer whose dedication has inspired generations of young people has received a British Empire Medal in the King’s Birthday Honours.
Jennifer Dudley earned the honour for nearly five decades of service to young people across London and the South East through Brownies, Guides and Rangers.
She joined the 4th Acton Brownie pack as a seven-year-old before returning as a volunteer in 1979. Today, alongside leading local groups, Jennifer is Girlguiding’s lead safeguarding volunteer for the London and South East England region and also trains and mentors other volunteers.
Jennifer Dudley, Girlguididing leader and lead safeguarding volunteer for the London and South East England region, said: “Receiving this award fills me with immense pride. I’ve had the privilege of working with so many incredible girls and young women throughout the years, and volunteering for Girlguiding has been an incredibly rewarding journey.”
Earlier this year Jennifer received the Mayor of Ealing’s inaugural Community Service Award.
Amanda Teasel, chief commissioner for Girlguiding London and South East England, said: “Jennifer’s BEM is a well-deserved recognition of her consistent contribution and commitment to Girlguiding both locally and across the region.”
