Review: Sarv’s Slice brings Detroit-style pizza to Ealing Broadway

Detroit-style pizza isn’t something you’ll find on many menus in London, but that’s exactly what Sarv’s Slice has been serving from its home on the ground floor of Ealing Picturehouse in Ealing Broadway since summer 2025.

EALING.NEWS visited the independently owned restaurant to discover what makes its square, deep-dish pizzas stand out in the local food scene.

Started from their home garden in Ealing, siblings, Sarv and Disha experimented with various kinds of pizza before settling on the little-known to Britain ‘Detroit-style’,  a deep-dish pizza with a thick and crispy crust.

This was mine and my companion’s first time trying Detroit-style pizza.

We ordered a range of their vegetarian pizzas, two of which typically would contain meat, but modifications can be made on most of their dishes. All of their pizzas feature their signature crispy, cheese crust, adding texture.

We started with their take on a margherita (£6.75 per slice/£22.50 for a full pie), with their homemade sauce layered over the cheese, piped whipped ricotta, fresh tomatoes, basil and a sprinkling of parmesan. The freshness and quality of their ingredients is apparent in every bite.

We then tried their burrata pizza, minus the calabrese (£7.95 per slice/£28 for a full pie), and their zucchini pizza, minus the mortadella (£7.95 per slice/£27 for a full pie) at the recommendation of Disha. Both of these were unique and unlike pizzas I had tried before.

The zucchini pizza was built on a white base and topped with whipped ricotta, lemon zest and basil, a truly refreshing option on the hot day we visited. And I may personally not be a fan of chives, and my companion not a fan of parmesan, but both of these elements melted into the burrata pizza, only adding new dimensions of flavour and texture to a bite that seems like it would be quite simple.

On the side, we ordered two of their homemade dipping sauces: the truffle mayonnaise and chilli honey. The truffle flavour was strong and paired well with the pizza crust, whilst the chilli honey complimented the tomato-based slices.

We finished our meal with a summer special dessert, apple and ginger sorbet, the perfect pallet refresher and cleanser to leave us with a very good taste in our mouths.
