Northfield saw the highest turnout of any ward in this year’s (7 May 2026) Ealing Council elections, with nearly 60% of voters casting a ballot, while turnout in Northolt West End was just over a third of the electorate.
Northfield, which returned three Labour councillors, saw 57.07% of eligible residents vote from an electorate of 10,431.
Meanwhile, Northolt West End, which also returned three Labour councillors, recorded the borough’s lowest participation at 35.50% with an an electorate of 10,628.
The figures from Thursday’s elections revealed wide differences in turnout across Ealing’s 24 wards. Across the borough as a whole, voter turnout averaged 43.54% — up from 40.31% in 2022.
A total of 130 polling stations across Ealing’s seven towns — Acton, Ealing, Greenford, Hanwell, Northolt, Perivale and Southall — were open from 7am until 10pm on Thursday, with voters electing 70 councillors across 24 wards.
Before the election, Labour held 56 seats on Ealing Council, with the Liberal Democrats on eight, Conservatives four and two independents. Following the election, Labour remains the largest party with 46 seats, while the Liberal Democrats increased their representation to 13 councillors. The Conservatives now have five seats, the Green Party has five, and there is one independent councillor.
Walpole recorded the borough’s second-highest turnout at 55.67%, followed by Pitshanger on 50.48% and Ealing Broadway on 50.11%.
At the other end of the scale, Greenford Broadway recorded turnout of 37.09%, while Dormers Wells saw turnout of 39.42% and East Acton recorded 39.67%.
Several wards across Ealing also recorded turnout close to or above 49%, including Hanwell Broadway at 49.38%, North Hanwell at 49.25% and Southfield at 48.06%.
In Ealing Common, where the Liberal Democrats gained all three seats, turnout reached 46.66%.
Hanwell Broadway, where the Green Party won all three seats, also saw one of the borough’s highest turnout levels at 49.38%.
