Students from Ealing’s University of West London have taken part in a Franco-British culinary exchange programme designed to strengthen links between young chefs and the hospitality industry.
Culinary industry management students at the university’s London Geller College of Hospitality and Tourism joined the Entente Cordiale programme, held earlier this month (2 – 4 March 2026), which brings together UK and French trainees to share skills and traditions. Founded by the late chef Michel Bourdin with the Escoffier Foundation, the initiative is now in its 22nd year.
Participants worked alongside professional chefs from venues including the Ritz London and the Vineyard Hotel in Berkshire, gaining experience in collaborative cooking and exposure to different culinary techniques. The programme also included a visit to Fortnum & Mason and a joint dinner prepared for industry guests at Capital City College Group.
The exchange concluded with a reception at the French ambassador’s residence, where students received certificates and medals.
Nathan Vasanthan, senior lecturer at the college, said: “What makes this experience truly special is the way it brings French and English students together.”
Student Pavlina Vemolova described the programme as “an amazing experience”, while Shannon Bu said it highlighted “the importance of generosity” in the profession.
