Ealing’s magic club celebrates 80th anniversary

An Ealing magic club marking its 80th anniversary is calling on new magicians from across the borough to join its ranks.

The Zodiac Magical Society, which meets weekly in Ealing, is celebrsting the milestone by inviting amateur and professional magicians to attend its sessions and become part of the long-running group.

Founded in 1946, the club brings together a mix of professional magicians, semi-professionals and hobbyists. Members gather every Wednesday to practise tricks, share techniques and perform new material in front of fellow magicians.

William Spencer, president of the society, said: “This club is like no other. It’s helped me learn so much, and I’ve made some wonderful friends from the world of magic. Such a lot of fun.”

The society says it places a strong emphasis on performance, with members given opportunities to test routines and develop acts in a supportive environment.

It also hosts visiting lecturers from the magic community and runs competitions covering disciplines including mentalism, close-up, stage and card magic.
