Ealing Council has announced the winners of its annual Christmas card competition, now in its fifth year, with Helen Soo, aged 10, named the overall competition winner after more than 150 entries celebrated the theme “Christmas in our towns”.
The contest invites children and young people across the borough to submit original designs reflecting local festive life. This year’s category winners were Shrina Pathak in the six-and-under group from Dormers Wells primary school; Helen in the seven-to-11 category from St Joseph’s Catholic primary school; and Leen Khatab in the 12-to-18 category from Brentside high school.
Helen’s bright, eye-catching artwork impressed the judges and will appear on the front of the council’s official Christmas card sent by the Ealing Council leader, Councillor Peter Mason. The other winning designs will feature on cards issued by the council’s chief executive, Tony Clements, and the deputy leader, Councillor Louise Brett.
Councillor Mason praised the standard of entries, saying: “It’s always a joy judging the designs each year, there is a lot of talent in the borough. The creativity and effort shown by all participants was outstanding. These designs truly reflect the joy and diversity of our community during the festive season.”
