A man has been charged with murder following the death of 35-year-old Vivienne Baraka in Hanwell last year.
Alvin Githai, 43, of Uxbridge Road, Ealing, was charged yesterday (8 October 2025), and is due to appear before Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court today (9 October 2025).
Police were called to an address at a block of flats in Riverside Close, Hanwell, at around 3.15pm on 26 March 2024 after concerns were raised for the welfare of a woman. Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and found Ms Baraka suffering from serious injuries. Despite the efforts of emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem examination found she had died from compression to the neck. Ghati was arrested at the scene before being released under investigation. He was re-arrested on Wednesday, 8 October and charged with murder.
In a statement, Ms Baraka’s family said: “Vivienne had an infectious smile, was a mother, sister, daughter and was a bubbly person who was full of life. Vivienne was outgoing and loved to support her family, friends and community.
“The family continues to struggle with her untimely departure and aren’t sure if time will ever bring solace or healing after she was taken too soon from us.”
