A 51-year-old man has been found guilty of murdering his wife in Perivale after what police described as a violent and toxic relationship.
Mugurel Nica of Jubilee Road, was convicted today (16 September 2025) at Southwark Crown Court of killing 46-year-old Anna Maria Murariu. The jury reached its verdict after a seven-day trial.
Police were called to the couple’s home in the early hours of 28 February 2025 following a 999 call. Officers found Anna Maria with multiple stab wounds and carried out CPR before paramedics arrived, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Nica was arrested immediately and charged with murder the following day.

Detective Inspector Richard Kempshall, who led the investigation, said the conviction offered only limited solace.
He said: “Today’s conviction will not return a mother to her children, and it will not take away the pain felt by this family. Anna Maria was a victim of domestic violence in a toxic relationship, which has sadly resulted in her death.”
DI Kempshall added that he hoped Anna Maria’s case would encourage others suffering abuse to seek help. He also praised the first responders who tried to save her life and the work of investigators and prosecutors who brought the case to court, describing it as “an emotive case” and “a privilege” to lead on behalf of her family.
Nica will be sentenced at Southwark crown court next month (2 October 2025).
