A man was forced to jump from a first-floor window to escape a fire believed to have been caused by an e-scooter battery that was being charged at a property on Noel Road in Acton yesterday (16 July 2025).
The blaze broke out in the entrance hallway of a house converted into flats, blocking the main escape route for residents inside.

Five people managed to flee the building before firefighters arrived. One man was taken to hospital as a precaution, the London Fire Brigade confirmed.
Crews from Acton, Park Royal, Ealing, and Chiswick stations brought the fire under control within an hour, having received the first of four emergency calls at 1:33pm.
A spokesperson warned that such incidents are becoming increasingly common: “If you can, store an e-bike or e-scooter outdoors in an external location such as a garage or shed. However, we understand that this is not possible for everyone. If you keep an e-bike or e-scooter indoors make sure it is never being stored or charged on an escape route.”
