TV presenter and former footballer Liam MacDevitt has shown his support for Ealing Scouts by visiting Brigantia Explorers in Elthorne Park.
Mr MacDevitt, who is also an Ealing resident, said: “I don’t think any of my years as a child, which led me to achieve those dreams and those goals, would have been possible without volunteers. They really are like the heartbeat of a local community.”
A Brigantia Explorers spokesperson told EALING.NEWS what it was like meeting Mr MacDevitt: “They played some games. The Explorers talked to Liam about how being involved in Scouts had helped them develop skills such as communication, leadership, team work. Liam spoke with the Explorers about how he had become a presenter and the challenges that he has overcome.”
The local Scouts say young people have the opportunity to take part in over 200 different activities.
The spokesperson added: “From fun-filled thrills and wild adventure, to creative activities and historic learning, there’s something to suit everyone. At Explorers you’ll get the chance to dream big, find your place in the world and make memories to last a lifetime.”
Adult volunteer Diogene De Souza said of meeting Mr MacDevitt: “It’s a great honour and a privilege for Brigantia to be part of Liam’s introduction to Scouts. I know the Explorers are having a really great time running around and playing frisbee with him.”
