Trailfinders couple win rugby Valentine’s prize

A Valentine’s Day competition run by Trailfinders Women culminated in a pitch-side dining experience for local resident Emma Button and her partner, who were treated to what the club described as a “money-can’t-buy” experience at Trailfinders Sports Ground on Saturday (14 February 2026).

The couple were given VIP access before the Premiership Women’s Rugby fixture against Sale Sharks and were able to share the occasion with their elderly friend Ian, attending his first PWR match.

Ms Button said: “It was a real surprise and privilege to be selected as the winner of this competition and we couldn’t be happier with how we spent our Valentine’s weekend.” She added that being allowed to bring Ian showed the club “truly care for the local community”.

The winners enjoyed dinner just metres from the pitch, soaking up the pre-match atmosphere before watching 80 minutes of top-flight rugby. Ms Button also had the chance to catch up with Trailfinders centre Carys Cox, a former student of hers.

The celebratory mood carried into a closely fought contest on the field. Sale Sharks Women eventually emerged with a 36-31 victory, edging a high-scoring encounter that remained in the balance until the closing stages.

Trailfinders Women return to action on 21 February 2026, when they face Leicester Tigers as they look to get back to winning ways in the Premiership. Click here for tickets.
