Trailfinders confirm Julia Schell ACL injury

Trailfinders Women have confirmed that their fullback Julia Schell has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained during last weekend’s fixture against Saracens.

The Canada international underwent a scan which confirmed the ACL damage. She will now prepare for surgery before beginning a period of rehabilitation with the club.

Schell has been a key figure for Trailfinders this season, starting every match in the campaign to date. She has contributed two tries and two try assists, underlining her impact in the PWR and her importance to the side’s attacking play.

Barney Maddison, the Trailfinders head coach, said: “I’m absolutely gutted for Jules. Off the back of a really strong World Cup and an impressive start in the PWR, she was in a really rich vein of form.

“There is no doubt that with her attitude and mindset, she will come back stronger from this, and we will all support her every step of the way.”

No timescale has been given for Schell’s return.
