Middlesex FA scoops award for getting women into football

Middlesex Football Association, based at Rectory Park in Northolt, has won the Women and Girls award at the 2024 County FA Recognition Awards for its Lost Generation Programme.

Middlesex FA received the award at Wembley Stadium on 7 November 2024 for its programme that connects women aged 35+ with playing football for the very first time.

Since September 2023, the Lost Generation Programme has seen 214 participants take part as well as holding regular weekly sessions for people to play the game.

Middlesex FA CEO, Kayleigh Saunders said: “We are delighted to have won the Women and Girls category at the 2024 County FA Recognition Awards for our work with The Lost Generation Programme. The idea behind the programme was to reach women that were part of the generation that never had the opportunity to play football and the reaction has been incredible.”

Ms Saunders added: “This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone at the Middlesex FA but particularly our project lead Kate Wells who has brought this together so successfully. We are thrilled to have been successful on the night at this fantastic event and would like to congratulate all the other County FA’s who were shortlisted across all categories.”

FA head of operations for grassroots football, Tim Foster added: “Once again, these awards have provided us with a brilliant platform to celebrate the tremendous work that takes place across all of our County FAs. I am always impressed by the quality of the projects submitted which demonstrate the hard work, passion and dedication across our County FA teams, who work tirelessly to support our grassroots game.”
