Trailfinders Women centre Megan Jones has been appointed an MBE in the King’s New Year Honours list for 2026 after playing a prominent role in England’s World Cup-winning year.
The Ealing player helped the Red Roses secure the title on home soil in September, scoring a crucial try in the semi-final victory over France and a brace against Samoa in the pool stages before England beat Canada in the final at Allianz Stadium. Earlier in the year Jones was influential in England’s grand slam-winning Six Nations campaign, scoring two tries and providing three assists as the side completed an unbeaten tournament.
Her form brought wider recognition, with Jones nominated for World Rugby Player of the Year and named in the World Rugby Dream Team of the Year. She was also awarded Premiership Women’s Rugby Player of the Season for a second consecutive year.
She said: “I didn’t really know what to expect. It’s an amazing honour.” She added that the team’s legacy was to “inspire the next generation”.
