Hanwell Town‘s manager Chris Moore hails new signings as ‘brilliant’ following a win over Bracknell Town.
With the last two matches at the Oliver Connell & Son Community stadium being postponed, The Geordies were delighted this match would go ahead, only thanks to the brilliant volunteers who helped create a playable pitch.
As the whistle blew, a very bland first half of football began, the most notable moment’s coming from the away side. In the 19th minute, captain Seb Bowerman saw his goal-bound effort blocked superbly by Hanwell Town’s Roberto Nditi. Just 15 minutes later, The Robins thought they took the lead through Giovanni McGregor when his low strike hit the post only for Jordan Esprit to blaze over the rebound.
The second half kicked off with more of the same, Hanwell Town goalkeeper and captain, Sam Beasant was called into action in the 49th where he produced a wonderful save with his feet, keeping his side on level terms. Despite the Bracknell pressure, it was the hosts that landed the opening blow in minute 67. Elijay Oladunjoye’s cutback found the feet of Joseph Waight who calmly placed the ball into the bottom left corner, leaving Zaki Oualah no chance. The floodgates then opened for Hanwell, who were able to grab a second goal via Callum Woodcock, who poked the ball home from close range after an Oladunjoye throw in caused chaos in the Bracknell box. Minute 79 saw an almost identical goal, the long throw created problems again and home debutant Luke Cook volleyed the ball from the six-yard box into the top left corner, two goals in two minutes for the Geordies.
The game ended with a win to Hanwell, leaving them three points above the relegation zone with games in hand over their counterparts. Bracknell Town hold their position in 10th.
Hanwell Town have another home match on Tuesday, where they will face Plymouth Parkways who are just three points behind. Chris Moore’s side have won four of their last five league fixtures, they’ll be looking to ‘build on what has been created’ and to keep their ‘hard work going’ into the game.
